Hi, I’m Shirley! A San Francisco native, I balance my days as a graphic designer with my passion for nail artistry with a full fledged private nail studio. I find inspiration in art, music, fashion, culture and artisanal crafts of all types.

From my high school days, I've been drawn to doing my own nails and nail art. Remember Hard Candy nail polishes with the plastic rings? Some time after that and just before the dawn of Instagram’s existence, I discovered the world of Japanese nail art by way of the local Japanese bookstore. Who knew there were Japanese magazines solely devoted to nail art? And several different ones at that? I was obsessed. Life finally paved an opportunity that lead to the creation of ARTxDECO Nails - a fusion of my enduring love for nails and the myriad influences that enrich my life.

When I’m not painting nails, I am hiking, playing with dogs, looking for the next tasty restaurant or cooking something up in the kitchen. When the wild hair strikes, I’ve been known to randomly bust out macarons, croissants, soup dumplings and yule log cakes to name a few - not always successfully at first!
